OpenClaw's Invoice Pipeline uses dedicated vision models fine-tuned for document understanding — not just reading pixels, but reasoning about layout. A scanned receipt with a tilted total, a PDF invoice with merged cells, a photo of a handwritten expense — all are structured into a clean, schema-compliant JSON record with field-level confidence scores. What separates this from basic OCR is the validation layer. After extraction, OpenClaw cross-references extracted totals against line-item sums, checks VAT calculations against applicable tax rates, and flags any discrepancy above 0.5% for manual review. When an invoice arrives in German or Japanese, currency and date formats are automatically normalized to your configured base locale. By integrating with Nextcloud for archival and a local SQL database for indexing, it creates a fully searchable financial history — no subscriptions, no cloud uploads, no accountant dependency.
